This book, History for Secondary Schools, is written specifically for Form Two students in the United Republic of Tanzania.

The book is prepared according to the 2005 History Syllabus for Secondary Schools, Form I – IV, issued by the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training.

The book is divided into six chapters, which are:

Interactions among the people of Africa
Socio-economic development in pre-colonial Africa
Early contacts between Africa
Middle East and Far East
Early contacts between Africa and Europe
Africa and the slave trade; and
Industrial capitalism.

In addition to the content, each chapter contains activities, exercises and revision questions.

Learners are encouraged to do all activities and answer all questions so as to enhance their understanding and promote acquisition of the intended skills, knowledge, and attitudes.
