INTRODUCTION
This format of the Kiswahili subject examination is based on the amendments made to the 2019 format issued by the Tanzania Examinations Council.
This format takes into account the 2010 Kiswahili subject outline. The improvements made in this format relate to the structure of the examination.
Furthermore, no improvements have been made in the general objectives, skills measured, and topics to be examined.
GENERAL OBJECTIVES
The general objectives of the examination are to measure the extent to which the candidate can:
1 communicate fluently in Kiswahili in various fields of life;
2 identify indicators of appreciation of Kiswahili as an important part of Tanzanian culture;
3 demonstrate the ability to investigate and formulate various issues of Kiswahili language and literature;
4 use literary works in everyday life;
5 use the Swahili language in various contexts;
6 identify various ways of developing and disseminating Kiswahili so that it can be used for communication with neighboring countries and internationally;
7 read various Kiswahili texts;
8 build a good and solid foundation for learning and development; and
9 use Kiswahili to acquire knowledge, orientation and skills social, cultural, technological and professional from within and outside the country.
