Tanzania Railways Corporation (TRC) is a state corporation established under The Railway Act No. 10 of 2017 with the core mandate of providing an efficient and effective rail transport service, manage and develop rail infrastructure and ensuring rail infrastructure safety and security in Tanzania Mainland.
What is SGR?
SGR is a short term “Standard Gauge Railway”.
A standard-gauge railway is a railway with a track gauge of 1,435 mm (4 ft 8 1⁄2 in). The standard gauge as well called Stephenson gauge, International gauge, UIC gauge, uniform gauge, normal gauge and European gauge in the EU and Russia. It is the most widely used railway track gauge across the world, with approximately 55% of the lines in the world using it.
The Different between Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) and Meter gauge Railway (MGR) is that Standard Gauge Railway has ability to carry heavy loads by High Speed than Metre Gauge.
STEPS TO BOOK SGR TICKETING ONLINE
1. Select the Departure and destination station Example From Dar es Salaam to Morogoro as shown in the image below
2. Select the Departure Date – the date that you expect to travell and then click seach a new page will open
3. Select the time that you wish to travel and the type of train. For example DAR DOM — EXPRESS, DAR DOM ROYAL EXPRESS, DAR DOM – ORDINARY LINE, DAR MOR ORDINARY LINE or DAR DOM — ORDINARY LINE
5. Select the railway car and class such as Economy, Busines or Royal.
6. Select Seat Number and the fill the infomation that follows.
The information needed from the Passenger (Passenger Informations) are:
i. Full Passenger’s name
ii. Select Ticket Type Eg. Adult (above 13 years) or child (4 – 12 years).
iii. National Identity Number (NIDA Number)/Passport Number
iv. Select Nationality type E.g. Residence or Non residence
v. Enter your email addres i.e that you will use to receive your ticket.
vi. Enter your valid phone number
vii. Select disability if yes you have any disability or No
NB: All disable people have special seats.
7. Check and comfirm your infomation if are correct then Click Payment to get control number for paying for the ticket
8. Check the Payment Details if are correct the click Get Control Number
9. You will be given a control number and specific time to pay for the ticket by Government Electronic Payment Gateway (GePG)
i. You can use SSD Codes from your mobile network such as *150*00# or *150*01# etc. or
ii. Use a button which says “Pay With Using Mobile Money” by putting a tick and you will be onlie to accept the request and enter your password.
NB: Please click the Payment Completed button after making the payment so that to receive you ticket
Up to there you will receive your ticheck, you can print the ticket or use the soft copy and show it at the check point during the travel date.
