EWURA IMETANGAZA BEI MPYA ZA MAFUTA AUGUST 2022

The Energy and Water Services Regulatory Authority (EWURA), announces the price limit for petroleum products in this country. These prices will be effective from Wednesday, August 3, 2022.

Oil prices in the world market have continued to increase, causing oil prices in the domestic market to increase as well.

In order to reduce the effects of the increase in the domestic market, the Government has provided a subsidy of 100 billion for fuel prices in this country for August 2022.

The Government, by providing the subsidy, has reduced the prices of fuel products for August 2022 as shown in Table No. 1

Due to the allocation of the subsidy, the prices of Fuel from August 3, 2022 are as shown in Table No.2.

During the effectiveness of these prices, wholesalers, retailers and the general public are required to adhere to the following:

(a) EWURA would like to remind the public that the limited prices of petroleum products for the relevant area are also available through mobile phones by dialing *152*00# and then following the instructions.

EWURA will continue to encourage competition by providing limited price information for fuel products. This information is intended to help stakeholders make informed decisions about the purchase of oil products.

(c) Oil companies are free to sell petroleum products at competitive prices as long as those prices do not exceed the price cap or fall below the floor price as calculated using the EWURA Planning Formula Fuel prices for the year 2022 announced through Government Gazette No. 2A and 57 dated 3 January 2022 and 28 January 2022, respectively.

(d) All fuel stations are required to publish the prices of fuel products in clearly visible posters showing the price of fuel, discounts, business incentives or promotions offered by the respective station.

Where it is possible to choose, customers are advised to buy fuel products at stations that sell fuel at the cheapest price to enhance competition.

It is a mistake to sell fuel without putting up price posters that are clearly visible to customers. Severe punishment will be given to the relevant center for not implementing the legal requirements in accordance with the relevant regulations.

(e) Petrol sellers are required to issue sales receipts from EFPP machines (Electronic Fiscal Pump Printers) and Buyers must ensure they get the payment receipts showing the name of the station, date, type of fuel purchased and price per litre.

These payment receipts will be used as a control for fuel buyers in case there are complaints of either selling fuel at a price higher than the limit price or selling fuel that does not have the appropriate quality level, and also, these receipts will help simplify the collection of Government taxes resulting from sales of petroleum oil.
