National Bureau of Statistics (NBS)
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has been established as an autonomous public office by the Statistics Act, of 2015 and has the mandate to provide official statistics to the Government, business community, and the public at large.
The Act also gives NBS the mandate to play the role of a co-coordinating agency, within the National Statistical System (NSS) to ensure that quality official statistics are produced.
Before the enactment of the Statistics Act of 2015, the NBS was one of the Government Executive Agencies which was established on the 26th March, 1999 under the Executive Agencies Act, 1997.

To produce quality official statistics and services that meet needs of national and international stakeholders for evidence based planning and decision making.
Services
The NBS which is the central depository for all official statistics produced in Tanzania, is responsible for the collection, compilation, analysis and dissemination of official statistics. Specifically, the services offered by NBS, include:
<> To collect data from various sources, analyze, publish, and distribute to stakeholders,
<> To conduct surveys and provide technical advice on sampling, statistical data collection, processing, analysis and dissemination of collected data whenever requested by a user/stakeholder,
<> To develop standards, methods and provide interpretation of concepts and definitions,
<> To provide raw data for researchers and other stakeholders,
<> To prepare maps needed for various surveys and censuses, and
The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania is planning to conduct a Population and Housing Census on August 23, 2022.
in order to obtain The government is advertising temporary openings for CORRESPONDENTS AND CESSION MANAGERS in this census for Tanzanians with the proper motivations and qualifications.
1. What kind of data will be gathered for the Population and Housing Census in 2022?
The details that will be required are: –
Demographic information (age, gender, marital status)
Disability information (type of disability, and source of disability);
Mobility Information;
Statement of national identity and parental identity;
Educational information;
Economic activity reports;
Land Ownership and ICT Information;
Reproductive status information;
Reports of deaths and maternal deaths;
Housing information, home ownership status, equipment / resources and environmental control; Information on agriculture, livestock, fisheries and forestry;
Information about the TASAF program Property / house information Residential addresses
Community service information at Kitongoji / Shehia and Local level.
2. What kind of data will be timely gathered during the Population and Housing Census in 2022?
Yes, as with the Census and other statistical studies, and in compliance with Statistics Act Chapter 351, the Census Clerk will only use the information you supply for statistical purposes.
Each Census Clerk is required by law to sign an affidavit promising to keep all information collected by them confidential and to keep any information given to them confidential.

3. How will I recognize the clerk for the population and housing census in 2022?
The Census Clerk will arrive at the home wearing a distinctive outfit and carrying an identity card.
The head of the local government, leader of the sub-district, or shehia will also be with him.
4. Is It Legal To Provide Information For A Census?
Yes, According to Statistics Act Chapter 351, responding to Census questions is mandated by law.

5. Is it possible to take part in the 2022 Population and Housing Census without UVIKO-19?
UVIKO-19 is not a barrier to anyone taking part in the 2022 Census, as all clerks and executives in this Census will follow all precautions advised by health professionals to avoid infecting the general public or their illness. and citizens during the Census activity.
