NAFASI ZA KAZI AT MUHIMBILI – MUHAS

MUHIMBILI UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH AND ALLIED SCIENCES

The Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) started as the Dar-esSalaam Medical School in 1963.

The School transformed into the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Dar-es-Salaam in 1968. The Faculty was merged with the Muhimbili hospital, to create the Muhimbili Medical Centre (MMC) in 1977.

After separation with Muhimbili Hospital, the Faculty of Medicine was upgraded in 1991 through Parliament Act. No. 9 of 1991 to become a constituent college of the University of Dar-es-Salaam known as the Muhimbili University College of Health Sciences (MUCHS).

Over the years MUCHS made significant achievements in terms of increased students enrolment and development of several new academic programmes.

The Parliament Act No. 9 of 1991 that established MUCHS was repealed in 2005 through the Universities Act No. 7 of 2005.

Subsequently, MUHAS was established in 2007 through Article 1 of the Charter of Incorporation in line with the Universities Act No 7 of 2005.

VACANCIES ANNOUNCEMENT (RE-ADVERTISEMENT)

Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) invites dynamic and suitably qualified Tanzanians to fill the following re-advertised vacant posts.

ASSISTANT LECTURER – 3 POSTS

Required Qualification

 Biomedical Engineering Unit – Must be a holder of Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering or Mathematics with at least a GPA of 4.0 out of 5 and a minimum GPA of 3.8 out of 5 in a Bachelor Degree in either Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering, MD or Mathematics with a minimum score of B+ in the relevant subjects.

 Medicinal Chemistry – Must be a holder of Master’s degree of Pharmacy in the field of Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Quality control and Quality Assurance or Drug Analysis with at least a GPA of 4.0 out of 5 or its equivalent. In addition, one must be a holder of first degree in Pharmacy with a minimum GPA of 3.8 out 5 or its equivalent and has scored a B+ in the relevant subjects.

 Development Studies – Must be a holder of Master’s Degree in one of the following fields Operational Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Policy Analysis and Public Administration with a minimum GPA of 4.0 out of 5 and a First degree in one of the following fields Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Dental Surgery, Bachelor of Environmental Health Sciences, Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Mid Wifery, Bachelor of Pharmacy, Bachelor of Health Laboratory Sciences, Bachelor of Public Administration or its equivalent with a minimum GPA of 3.8 out of 5 from a recognized reputable University with a minimum score of B+ in relevant subjects.

Duties & Responsibilities

I. To undergo an induction course in pedagogic skills for those who had none before;

II. To carry out lectures, conduct tutorials, seminars and practical for undergraduate programmes;

III. To prepare and present case studies;

IV. To conduct and publish/disseminate research results;

V. To recognize students having difficulties, intervene and provide help and support;

VI. To participate in consultancies and community services under supervision;

VII. To attend workshops, conferences and symposia; and

VIII. Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the relevant authorities.

REMUNERATION PUTS 2.1

ASSISTANT RESEARCH FELLOW – 3 POSTS

Required Qualification

 Microbiology and Immunology – Must be a holder of Master’s Degree in Microbiology and Immunology with a minimum GPA of 4.0 out of 5 and a minimum GPA of 3.8 out of 5 in the Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Sciences and Technology or Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Sciences in Microbiology and Immunology or Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Sciences or other relevant degrees from a recognized reputable University with a minimum score of B+ in relevant subjects.

 Medicinal Chemistry – Must be a holder of Master’s Degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, and Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Quality control and Quality Assurance or Drug Analysis with a minimum GPA of 4.0 out of 5 and a minimum GPA of 3.8 out of 5 in the first degree in the following fields Pharmacy or Chemistry from a recognized reputable University with a minimum score of B+ in relevant subjects.

 Biological and Pre-Clinical Studies – Must be a holder of Master’s Degree in Pharmacology, Molecular biology and Biotechnology or Microbiology and Immunology with a minimum GPA of 4.0 out of 5 and must have a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree with a minimum GPA of 3.8 out of 5 in the relevant first degree from a recognized reputable University with a minimum score of B+ in relevant subjects.

Duties & Responsibilities

Required Qualification

Holder of Master degree in Library or Information Studies or Library and Information Science with at least a GPA of 4.0 out of 5 and a Bachelor Degree in Library and

Information Science/Information Studies with a Minimum GPA of 3.8 out of 5 in the First Degree from a recognized reputable University and has scored B grade in the relevant subjects.

Duties & Responsibilities

To undergo an induction course in pedagogic skills for those who had none before;

To carry out lectures, conduct tutorials, seminars and practical for undergraduate programmes;

To prepare and present case studies; To conduct and publish/disseminate research results;

To recognize students having difficulties, intervene and provide help and support;

To participate in consultancies and community services under supervision;

REMUNERATION PUTS 2.1

TUTORIAL ASSISTANT (5 YRS) – 6 POSTS

Required Qualification

 Biochemistry – Applicant must be a holder of Doctor of Medicine (MD) with a minimum GPA of 3.8 out of 5 from a recognized and reputable Medical University and has a minimum score of B+ in the relevant subjects and must have completed one-year internship program.

 Clinical Pharmacology – Applicant must be a holder of Doctor of Medicine (MD) with a minimum GPA of 3.8 out of 5 from a recognized and reputable Medical University and has a minimum score of B+ in the relevant subjects and must have completed one-year internship program.

 Otorhinolaryngology – Applicant must be a holder of Doctor of Medicine (MD) with a minimum GPA of 3.8 out of 5 from a recognized and reputable Medical University and has a minimum score of B+ in the relevant subjects and must have completed one-year internship program.

 Obstetrics and Gynaecology – Applicant must be a holder of Doctor of Medicine (MD) with a minimum GPA of 3.8 out of 5 from a recognized and reputable Medical University and has a minimum score of B+ in the relevant subjects and must have completed one-year internship program.

 Microbiology and Immunology – Bachelor Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences or Equivalent degree with a minimum GPA of 3.8 out of 5 from a recognized and reputable Medical University has a minimum score of B+ in the relevant subjects and must have completed one-year internship program.

 Pathology – Bachelor Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences in Histotechnology or Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Sciences in Clinical Chemistry or Equivalent degree with a minimum GPA of 3.8 out of 5 from a recognized and reputable Medical University has a minimum score of B+ in the relevant subjects and must have completed one-year internship program.

Duties & Responsibilities .
