PASSPORT APPLICATIONS IN KENYA
The Directorate of Immigration Services is a Directorate under the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government.
It is charged with the responsibility of issuance of Passports and other Travel Documents, Regulation of Entry and Exit from the country, Foreign Nationals Management and Registration of Kenyan Citizenship.

PASSPORT APPLICATIONS IN KENYA
A passport is document issued to Kenya citizens by the Directorate of Immigration services and is valid for a maximum period of ten (10) years to enable them to travel abroad.
The Directorate of Immigration Services derives its mandate from section 27(1) of the Kenya Citizenship and Immigration Act 2011 and Kenya Citizenship and Immigration Regulation 2012, legal notice No. 64
Passport Section derives its mandate mainly from the Sections 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30 and 31, of the Kenya Citizenship and Immigration Act 2011 and the attendant Regulations.
In September 2017, Kenya launched the e-Passport system to issue digital passports in compliance with ICAO document 9303 and the East African Community Summit resolution.
The current Passport Application and Processing Stations are in: Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu Embu, Nakuru, Kisii and Eldoret and in six foreign missions London, Washington DC, Berlin, Pretoria, Dubai and Paris.

Requirements for New (First time) Applications
i. A duly filled application Form 19 and 2 payment invoices
ii. Original Birth Certificate and a copy for citizens of Kenya by birth
iii. Certificate of Registration for citizens of Kenya by registration
iv. Original applicant’s national identity card and a copy for adults
v. Copy of the recommenders national identity card
vi. Duly filled Consent Form for minors
vii. Copies of parents’ national identity cards/ Death certificates where applicable
viii. Original and Copies of parents’ birth certificates
ix. And any other additional document as may be required
x. Payment of the prescribed fee
Requirements for replacement of passports
i. A duly filled application Form 19 and 2 payment invoices
ii. Original national identity card and a copy for adults
iii. Duly filled Consent Form for minors
iv. Previous Passport and a copy
v. And any other additional document as maybe required

Requirements for Mutilated Passports
i. A duly filled application Form 19 and 2 payment invoices
ii. Original ID and a copy for Adults
iii. Previous Passport and a copy
iv. Personal Statement explaining circumstances for the damage
v. Sworn Affidavit to support (iv) above
vi. Payment of the prescribed fee of Ksh.10,050.00
Requirements for Lost passports
i. A duly filled application Form 19 and 2 payment invoices
ii. Original ID and a copy for Adults
iii. Personal Statement explaining circumstances for the damage
iv. Sworn Affidavit to support (iii) above
v. Police Abstract for loss of passport
vi. Copy of the lost passport bio data page if available
vii. Payment of the prescribed fee of Ksh.12,050.00
Requirements for Change of Names
In addition to the above requirements depending on the category
• Present written explanation for change of names addressed to the Passport Control Officer.
• Attach Supportive documents i.e deed poll plus the Kenya gazette notice, marriage certificate etc
Application steps for Passport
i. Register for an e-citizen account
ii. Fill online application
iii. Scan and upload required documents
iv. Pay prescribed fee
v. Book appointment
vi. Print the duly completed application form and two invoices
vii. Attached copies of required documents

Submission and Biometrics capture
All applicants must appear in person in the various stations as per the appointments for submission and enrolment of bio-metrics. The application centers are as follows

Applicants in the Diaspora can have the passport application, process done at the following foreign missions:

- Dubai (United Arab Emirates)
- Paris (France).
Passport delivery
Passport delivery is done through Postal Corporation Services within the country while delivery to the foreign missions is done by Ministry of Foreign affairs.
