On behalf of Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute (TARI), Public Service
Recruitment Secretariat (PSRS) invites dynamic and suitable qualified Tanzanians
to fill 15 vacant posts as mentioned below;

TANZANIA AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE (TARI)

The Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute or in acronym “TARI” is established under the Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute Act No. 10 of 2016 as a semiautonomous body of the Government under the Ministry responsible for Agriculture.

It is a body corporate that is responsible for conducting, promoting, regulating and coordinating all agricultural research activities in the Mainland Tanzania. The Institute welcomes qualified Tanzanians to apply for the following posts:-

1. RESEARCH ASSISTANT – 2 POSTS

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

i. To assist in the field data collection, computer data entry, data analysis and
gathering of relevant literature;

ii. To conduct research under supervision of Senior Researchers;

iii. To keep records of research findings;

iv. To provide input in developing research proposals;

v. To prepare research proposals with minimum supervision of Senior
Researchers;

vi. To collaborate and interact with other Researchers in the dissemination and
application of research findings;

vii. To perform any other official duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Holder of at least an upper second Bachelor Degree in any of the following fields:-

Agriculture General, Agriculture Economics, Agri-business or Agricultural Extension
and Education from a recognized Institution/University by the Government.

Candidate with at least one year field experience in agricultural research
activities from Research Institution recognized by the Government will have an
added advantage.

SALARY SCALE: PRSS 1

2. AGRICULTURAL FIELD OFFICER GRADE II – 11 POSTS

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

i. To assist researchers in conducting agricultural research;

ii. To collect, monitor and keep field research record;

iii. To assist in training of farmers on appropriate agricultural technologies;

iv. To assist in dissemination of agricultural technologies and innovation to
stakeholders;

v. To supervise Field Attendants; and

vi. To perform any other related duties as may be assigned from time to time by
the Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Holder of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) or Advanced
Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) with Ordinary Diploma in any of the
following fields:-

Agriculture, Crop Production, Horticulture, Farm Management or any
related qualifications from Institution/University recognized by the Government.

Candidate with at least one year field experience in any agricultural research
activities from Research Institution recognized by the Government will have an
added advantage.

SALARY SCALE: PGSS 4

3. AGRICULTURAL FIELD ASSISTANT GRADE II – 2 POSTS

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

i. To assist researchers in conducting agricultural research

ii. To assist in conducting crop management operations such as planting and weeding,

iii. To clean field equipment’s, storage areas;

iv. To participate in construction and rehabilitation of greenhouses and seed storage

v. To participate in fencing of experimental plots;

vi. To assist in taking care of experimental fields or laboratories;

vii. To assist in carrying out field harvesting operations;

viii. To report of any unusual field incidence to immediate supervisor

ix. To perform any other related duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Holder of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with Certificate in any of
the following fields:-

Agriculture, Horticulture, Farm Management or related qualifications from Institution/University recognized by the Government.

Candidate with at least one year field experience in agricultural research activities from Research Institution recognized by the Government will have an added advantage.

SALARY SCALE: PGSS 2

GENERAL CONDITIONS

i. All applicants must be Citizens of Tanzania generally with an age not above 45 years of age except for those who are in Public Service;

• Form IV and Form VI National Examination Certificates;
• Professional Registration and Training Certificates from respective
Registration or Regulatory Bodies, (where applicable);
• Birth certificate;

v. Attaching copies of the following certificates is strictly not accepted: –
• Form IV and form VI results slips;
• Testimonials and all Partial transcripts;

vi. An applicant must upload recent Passport Size Photo in the Recruitment Portal;

vii. An applicant employed in the Public Service should route his application letter through his respective employer;

viii. An applicant who is retired from the Public Service for whatever reason should not apply;

ix. An applicant should indicate three reputable referees with their reliable contacts;

x. Certificates from foreign examination bodies for Ordinary or Advanced level education should be verified by The National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA).

xi. Professional certificates from foreign Universities and other training institutions should be verified by The Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) and National Council for Technical Education (NACTE);

xii. An applicant with special needs/case (disability) is supposed/advised to indicate;

xiii. A signed application letters should be written either in Swahili or English and addressed to Secretary,
