University of Iringa (UoI)
In 1995 Tumaini University, Iringa University College was founded, originating as Iringa Lutheran College and Seminary.
In 1997 it began offering University Certificate, Diploma, and Degree programmes. It operated as University College for eighteen years and was distinguished as being the first private university in Tanzania.
Graduates from this University have become prominent throughout the country in Lutheran ministry, law, and business. In addition, Tumaini is well represented in the national Ministries of Education, the Arts, and others.
Tumaini graduates figure with importance throughout Tanzanian industry. Many have continued on to post-graduate degrees in Europe, America, and other African nations and are distiguishing themselves internationally.
On 25th October 2013 Iringa University College became the full-fledged University of Iringa (UoI). The University has six departments/faculties and offers multiple courses of study in each, certificates, diplomas, bachelors’, and post-graduate degrees.
It is under the aegis of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania. The University boasts a highly trained and experienced academic staff from Tanzania and countries across the globe. It enjoys close ties and support from the USA, Finland, Germany, and various other foreign countries.

How to Apply for Admission at the University of Iringa
This is a step-by-step guide on how to apply for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at the University of Iringa. To apply for admission, follow the steps below;
Step 1: Go to University website
Access the UOI Admission website University of Iringa UoI
Step 2: The UOI online application system will open
Navigate to the Undergraduate or postgraduate section and Read the available instruction carefully.
Step 3: Registration
Navigate to the registration link and Fill in the required information to complete your registration. The information needed during the registration stage includes
- First name
- Surname
- Email Address
- Mobile Telephone Number
- O-Level index number,
To finalize registration, you will need to put in a password of your choice that you will use whenever you wish to log into the admission system.
If you are successfully registered, then the system will send you an email or SMS. Please log in to your email account and use the link sent to your email to activate your admission account.
Step 4: UOI online application login
Login to UOI OAS by using your Username and password. Complete your registration by providing your basic information such as gender, marital status, and date of birth, among others. UOI Application System
Step 5: UOI Application fees payment
Once you have completed the registration stage, the control number will automatically be generated and you will be able to make an application fee payment and complete the application. For a successful application, an applicant must pay a non-refundable application fee of 10,000/= TZS.

Step 6: The course selection feature will only be visible for filling once the application fee is paid, carefully select your courses and submit your completed application: In order to successfully complete the application; the applicant is required to complete all steps from “Home” to ”Submit” your application.

ADMISSION INTO CERTIFICATE, DIPLOMA, DEGREE AND POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES FOR 2022-2023 ADMISSION CYCLE.
Minimum Entry Requirements
Bachelor:
Holders of Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) with at least two (2) principal passes in relevant subjects as per course specifications. OR Holder of Ordinary Diploma with a G.P.A of 3.0 and above.
NOTE: Please attach certified copies of “O” level, “A” level, or AVN or Equivalents of foreign certificates, Birth Certificate, Transcripts and other academic Certificates.

Application fee should be paid through LIPA Kwa MPesa Service to A/c No. (5669684) with the A/c Name of UNIVERSITY OF IRINGA.

Observe that:
i. All payments except hostel fees should be made through CONTROL NUMBER that will be communicated through your active phone number and e-mail address provided during your applications.
ii. Those who do not have health insurance card will have to pay Tshs. 50,400/= upon arrival in the first semester following NHIF payment procedures. TIKA Card is not accepted
iii. Hostel fee for those who will stay on campus is Tsh. 378,000/= per annum. (Can be paid in two installments Tshs. 189,000/= per semester).
iv. Make prior booking through the warden Office, Phone no: 0767 370 684/ 0715 370 684 before making payments. Hostel fees is paid through different control number upon student’s confirmation.
