Dar es Salaam. The Tanzania Railways Corporation (TRC) has said that tickets used during SGR’s modern electric train journeys will use the electronic system at all stages of check-in, boarding and departure.

Utaratibu Tiketi za SGR Huu Hapa:- The process is said to be five months before the passenger train journey from Dar es Salaam to Morogoro begins.

This was stated on Monday, March 7, 2022 by the Director of Telecommunications TRC, Engineer Senzige Kisenge while briefing the Parliamentary Budget Committee visiting the SGR.

“This train and the old ones are very different, first there is a more modern inspection the first area at each station is when you enter and when you leave you must be a scan.

“When he gets on the train there are supervisors who will grow up with scanning machines they are not allowed to cut the ticket, when he leaves we will know if the ticket he has is real or otherwise, we double check when entering and exiting,” he said.

Engineer Senzige said the building has standard elevators as well as electric elevator levels that enable all passengers to reach the top without any problems.

Earlier Meatu MP Leah Komanya wanted to know how the TRC is gearing up to control tickets for each carriage as well as freight arrangements as well as infrastructure for the disabled.

Passenger transport that will use the railway, which is being completed at Standard Gauge (SGR) level, is expected to start rolling out by September 2022 from Dar es Salaam to Morogoro.

The move comes after construction of the project reached 95.32 percent where operational tests are expected to begin in April after passenger carriages arrive.
