Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE)
This is a selection test which enables the government to select form one entrants for its schools. Students who get selected and those who are not, receive certificates.
The Examination Calendar
PSLE is administered in the second week of September every year.
The objectives of PSLE
The objectives of PSLE are:
i. To assess learner’s skills and knowledge gained in the different subjects at primary school level;
ii. To assess learners understanding of the basic skills and abilities in reading, writing and arithmetic
iii. To asses the extent that they can use such skills in solving pertinent problems in life;
iv. To identify learners with the capacity to continue with secondary education and other training institutions.
Eligibility of Candidates who Seat for the Examination
Any pupil who have completed standard seven in both government and private schools can be registered and sit for this examination.
Examined Subjects/Courses
The examined subjects at PSLE are Hisabati (Mathematics), English Language, Sayansi (Science), Maarifa ya Jamii (Social Studies) and Kiswahili.
Examination Formats

Understanding the Grading System
The National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) uses a grading system to evaluate the performance of students in the Standard Seven examination.
This grading system is used to determine the pass or fail status of a candidate and to rank candidates according to their performance.
The grading system used by NECTA for Standard Seven examination is as follows:

To view the results of Standard Seven 2023, follow the steps below:
1. Turn on the internet data on your phone or Connect with inter your computer.
2. Open browser such as Chrome, Opera, safari, Mozilla etc on your phone or computer
3. Visit Official NECTA Website i.e. www.necta.go.tz.
3. When you are on a special NECTA website, search for the area labeled “PLSE results.”
4. Click on the PLSE results area and then select year of the result “2023” Click the Word > Link 1: Click here to view
5. Click on the Region Where Your Primary School is found e.g. Kigoma, Tanga, Dar es Salaam, Morogoro etc.
6. Click on the District Where your school is found e.g. Kinondoni, Temeke, Uvinza, Kilwa etc.
7. Then Click On the School or Center of Examination where you completed Standard seven E.g. Lugufu Primary School, Bulugi Primary School, Kilimo Kwanza Primary school etc.
5. Then on the same page, Your Results will be displayed and now you can see your Standard Seven Examination Results
